Salty Ramblings~

A place to come, sit, pull up a chair, and talk awhile

Sometimes It Takes Me a Minute

8/1/2018

Comments

Sometimes it takes me a minute to connect the dots that the Lord has put before us.  I have had two separate ministries for years that have overlapped each other:  Bible Journaling and Salty Sidewalks.  I have kept them separate and distinct--trying to feed into both ........and wearing myself out.
Very recently the Lord showed me that these two ministries are two sides of the same coin.  Let me explain:
Bible Journaling is the inner conversation- the personal relationship we have with the Lord.
Salty Sidewalks is taking that inner conversation to the world.  It is releasing our revelation with the understanding that it is for someone else.
Inner conversation to outer manifestation.
Sometimes it takes me a skinny minute to figure out that the Lord has a plan for growing us and growing His kingdom!
With this in mind, I have absorbed the Bible Journaling aspect of this ministry in the Salty Sidewalks site.  Right now we are working through the Psalms, one Psalm a week.  There are weekly doodle sheets that can help you if you struggle with drawing. There are weekly videos to show you how I paint.  There are doodle sheets you can transfer into the margins of your Bible.  This is all free! No loops, no hidden agenda ---just growing together in the Lord with you!
In the Fall we will start a live group once a week and we will create salt tags together- creativity meets community as we gather together and do this creative, God loving, life together. Till then- Be salty!!!

A Hiatus Always Ends

10/10/2016

Comments

On July 10th I took a mis-step on my stairs and broke all of the bones in my ankle and ripped and severed the tendon from the same, broken bones.
For three months I have been in a recliner not able to walk.  Within the past week I have been granted freedom through a walking boot and a pair of crutches.  It is slow going, but I AM going!!!
Because of the injury, I was unable to get to my desk and to my computer.  All of my ministries and outreach groups  came to a slow trickle of "doing what I could".
Today I am at my desk and delighted to be picking up the reigns again.  Our little ministry here has had growing pains and heartache, but we continue on! For the world is made up of those that are hurting and desperate for a letter from their King.  We salt the Earth for Him, depositing His love letters where His chosen will "happen" upon them.
We leave our artwork, with the Gospel boldly proclaimed, in our supermarkets, libraries, rest stops and national parks.
----------->But that is not enough, it never was enough, because the hurt and the broken live in our churches and in our daily  lives. Life is not easy and heartache is hard to swallow.  Those that have known the personal relationship of their Savior for decades, get discouraged and lonely, and need a "love letter". We reach out to women in local churches and in conferences with no apology...because a cemented smile doesn't always mean  "All is well with my soul" and Jesus is the only one that knows the heartache and brokeness that lives behind that fractured smile.
We send leaks into the prisons, we hand them out to the homeless.  They go in battered women's supply bags and they go to nightclubs where shooters open fire.  They go to families that are hurting and grieving. They go, where He tells us to send them.
We are Salty Sidewalks and we are ready to greet the new day and the assignments that the Lord puts before us with zeal and a reckless abandon to love His world.

How To Host A Salt Leak Party!

So how do you host a Salt Leak Party?
Intention: Spreading the Gospel Through the Arts.
Mission: TO bless the maker and the receiver through time in His Word.
Time needed: 3 hours
Supplies: Everyone chip in and bring supplies, or ask for a nominal donation to offset costs. I bring everything to my parties, and trust the Lord will bless me with supplies on the flip side!
Recommended: Playing cards and pages from old books- minimal cost.
Elmers glue watered down 1 to 3 to glue the pages onto
the cards
Paint
Brushes
Makers to write with
With this bare minimum you can make hundreds of leaks in a few hours. I set up a few "gluers" - there are always a few that dont want to be creative, would rather glue. Everyone can find something to do!
Few Painters
few embellishers
Few finshers Create an assemby line and you are good to go.

Salt Leaks for the Graves Family

6/19/2016

Comments

The horror that the Graves family is going through seems to have struck at a deep, primordial terror that is housed inside the hearts of all parents. To watch their baby, a picture of the purest of  innocence, stand before a rugged, gnarly, monstrous  alligator- seems to blend  this innocence with pure horror. The two should never exist side by side.
The rememberings, would seem to me,  to haunt and terrorize their inner beings.  I can't say I know what they are going through, I can't say I understand the why of this little innocent being taken.  I do know that God is still with them, closer than they could ever know.  I know that Lance is now playing and splashing in eternity next to his Savior....and though, for the right now, that is not enough....the fact that he is, indeed, safe rests easy in my heart.
I pray for the Graves family today, that they would know peace again.  That they would feel the very heart of God bending down to listen to them as they cry out and mourn. I pray that they find peace in knowing that Lance is just on the other side of a thin curtain right now, alive and well and living forever.   I pray that they know that we never have to say goodbye, that in the eternal relocation to heaven, we get to look forward to our own homecoming and reunion with those that have voyaged before us.
Lord, I pray that You would hold this family close and let them know, somehow, that Lance is alive and well and that his laughter now rings through heaven.

Salt Leaks for Pulse Nightclub

Comments

So many hurting, so many victims.....what can we do??  I think we can pray for them and let families, survivors, and friends  know that no one is alone, ever.  We can let Orlando know that our prayers of hope reach into their desolation and that His light always wins.
The victims are not forgotten.
The families will be prayed for.
Friends will be supported through prayer and love.

Join us as we live out loud for Christ, recklessly loving His world?

Awwww, a new testimony came in today:
" I work as a housekeeper at St. Joseph's Hospital in Nashua, NH. A few days ago, I was feeling just a little bit down at work while I was straightening some magazines. I found a "salt leak" in a waiting room. It totally brightened my day! Thank you so much!! "
Well yay God!!! Prayers surround Kathy as she continues on in her daily work as the hospital <3

Church Outreach and Salty Sidewalks

5/25/2016

We got a letter from a Pastor's wife that got me thinking, first let me share the letter:
"I absolutely love the idea of salt leaks and wondered if it was something anyone can get involved in or is it a private type thing with copyright protection, etc.? I am a pastor's wife and would love to get some folks at my church involved in doing something like this, but I didn't want to infringe on any copyright or anything. How can others get involved under this same idea and name if possible?"

Oh my word, please take this Divine Experiment and run with it in your churches, in your youth groups, in your senior groups , anywhere God leads! I love when we all gather together and make salt leaks, there is fellowship, and fun.   In the midst,  and excitement, of sharing the Gospel with each other, we create in love!  What a pairing!!!

The answer is "Yes, Yes, Yes, please let's get our churches involved and continue to salt the earth with His creativity and Word!!! If you need help in getting started, please contact me privately at [email protected].  If you could put "Salty Sidewalks" in the memo line it will help me weed it out of my junk mail! :-)

In Search of my mojo.....

5/21/2016

Comments

I seem to have lost my mojo in the last month. Have you ever been where I am? My paints are all out and ready to be called to arms, but......I'm just not feeling it. Life sometimes hits you where you weren't expecting it and your apple wagon gets toppled. But we gotta march on.
Sooooooo, in an attempt to get my mojo back and kindle our creative fires, I am issuing a challenge to us all. Summer is a time to grow. Our fruit is apparent and our limbs shelter many birds.
Let's salt the earth this summer, what do you think about abandoning one leak a day? That shouldn't be too taxing, too strenuous.
Are you in? Allowing our creative fruit to reap for His harvest?
I pray abundance for our group, a bountiful harvest as we reap and sow all summer.
